Uemura Shōen

Uemura Shoen (Jap.上 村 松园; born April 23 1875 in Kyoto, † August 27, 1949 ) was one of the first nationally and internationally known Japanese painters. Her teacher was Takeuchi Seihō, later she was a member of the Imperial Academy of Arts, was about as Teishitsu gikei - in with a special promotion of Tennō. Many of her works in Nihonga style are now considered Important Cultural Property of Japan (重要 文化 财, juyo Bunkazai ). She was also awarded the Order of Culture.
