Geography

Uetze lies on the southern edge of the Lüneburg Heath, has predominantly sandy soils. It is crossed by the rivers Fuhse and Erse, which come from the Harz mountains and flow into approximately north. Northwest of Uetze opens the Erse in the Fuhse which opens at Celle in the Aller.

The municipality covers an area of ​​approximately 140 km ².

Structure

The municipality consists of the ( formerly independent ) communes Altmerdingsen, Dedenhausen Dollbergen Eltze, Hänigsen, Katensen, Obernhagen, Schwüblingsen and the main town Uetze itself and has a total of about 20,000 inhabitants.

History

The first mention was made in 1022 as " Utisson ". 1215 the location is referred to as " Utessem ". From the name of the place derives also the Squire Tight Schlecht "by Uttensen " from. Religions

Uetze is located on the main road 188 from Burgdorf to Meinersen Gifhorn and Wolfsburg.
