Uffing am Staffelsee ( officially: Uffing a.Staffelsee ) is a community in the Upper Bavarian district of Garmisch -Partenkirchen and includes the two places Uffing and Schöffau.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Bavarian Alps 70 km south of Munich at an altitude of 666 m above sea level. It extends over an area of 43 km ². Of this 23 sq km agricultural area, 19 km ² of forest, 2 km ² of water and recreation area.

History

Uffing was first mentioned in 739 as the monastery Foundation's Benediktbeuren. Parts of the village were also owned by the monastery Staffelsee in the early Middle Ages. The place was later to Rentamt Munich and the Court of Weilheim of the Electorate of Bavaria. Station
