UHARC

Uharc (Uwe Herklotz Archiver ) is a powerful proprietary data compression program for DOS and Microsoft Windows. Additionally, there are several programs that provide a separate graphical user interface. Uharc is free for personal and non-commercial use, commercial use requires a paid registration. Neither the source nor a file format or algorithm description are published. With UHARC compressed files have the extension. UHA. The latest version is 0.6b to the previous version 0.4 is completely incompatible.

Uharc compressed ( strongly dependent on the type of output data) about 10 % stronger than RAR and at least 1 to 2 % better than 7- zip in 7z mode. For UHARC is a bit slower, but still usable compared to the strongest ( and extremely slow and memory-hungry ) experimental packers as WinRK in PWCM mode PAsQDa or DURILCA in practice.

Uharc can only pack files up to 2 GB in size.

Uwe Herklotz, author of UHARC comes from Chemnitz. Salvatore Ravida, the author of the graphical user interface WinUHA, from Italy.
