Uhelná

Uhelná until 1948 Serksdorf ( German Sörgsdorf ), is a village in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers southeast of Javorník and belongs to Okres Jeseník. The Czech word uhelná means coal. The name of newly introduced in 1948 makes reference to coal mining in the region.

Geography

Uhelná extends in the valley of Lánský creek at the foot of Travenská hornatina (herb Walder Bergland ), a part of the Reichensteiner Mountains. To the west lies the Krebstal ( RACI 's Valley ), in the east, which emerged from a pond Lignitbergwerk Pelnar.

Neighboring towns are Horni Fořt Dolni Fořt Mlatci Zahradníci and Domkáři in the north, Bernartice in the northeast, Buková in the east, Vlčice the southeast, Zastávka and Hřibová in the south, Nové Vilémovice and Cerveny Dul in the southwest, Travná and Zálesí in the west and Javorník in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Serksdorf was in 1290 as a possession of the reign Johannesberg. 1372 the village was down around a courtyard applied forestry. A part of the farm was divided in 1557 to settlers, the new settlement was named after the founder and owner of the farm Priebner as Priebnerleute. The northern forest acquired the bishopric of Breslau and allowed the settlement of Upper establish forest, east of it was in 1569 founded the settlement Dreschgärtner.
