Ukrainian Catholic Eparchy of Saint Wladimir-Le-Grand de Paris

The Eparchy of Saint Vladimir le Grand de Paris (Latin: Eparchia Vladimiri Magni Parisiensis ) is situated in Western Europe Eparchy of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, based in Paris.

History

In 1937, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church established a mission station in Paris. Their home church was a chapel, which was rebuilt for the Byzantine rite. The church was named after Prince Vladimir I. (960-1015) of Kiev and received on 9 May 1943, named " St. Vladimir the Great ". It was consecrated by the Bishop Emanuel - Anatole -Raphael Chaptal de Chanteloup. The increasing number of mission members and faithful of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church led by Pope John XXIII. , On July 22, 1960, found with the Apostolic Constitution Apostolic Exarchate Aeterni Pastoris the France. For jurisdiction area includes France, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The first Exarchate and twelve priests presented the first staffing. With the episcopal seat of the Apostolic Exarchs in Paris the church "St. received Vladimir the Great, " the status of a cathedral. Benedict XVI. erhobt it on January 19, 2013 Eparchy.
