Uldin

Uldin ( † around or shortly after 409) was a tribal leader or maybe even King of the Huns on the lower Danube. He is the first historically really tangible Hun rulers ( since the person of Balamir is probably not historically ).

Uldin struck in the year 400, the remnants of the army of the rebels Gainas, who had recently rebelled unsuccessfully against the Eastern Roman Emperor Arcadius. Gainas fell Uldin and sent his head to Constantinople Opel, for which he received a large reward. 406 Uldin sent troops to the Western Roman General Stilicho, with whom he had formed an alliance to support its fight against the Goths Radagaisus. After Uldin had attacked in the winter of 404/ 05 Eastern Roman territory, he fell 408 again in Thrace, but had to after initial success soon retire. Then no news of Uldin more have survived.

Ruled the cohesion of the empire, on the Uldin, has been much speculation. Probably took a veritable " Hunnic empire-building " after Uldins death. However, its share of future development should not be underestimated.
