Ulf Lundkvist

Ulf Lundkvist (* 1952) is a Swedish artist, draftsman and painter.

Ulf Lundkvist portrays the hidden and forgotten pages of his native country Sweden, of the rural poor of the 18th century over disused railway stations and petrol pumps dry to the motorway junctions and shopping malls of today. His main fascination applies the 1940s to 1960s, in his works, time stands still.

Lundkvist works with various means of graphic design, but is mainly known for his comic series. Lundkvist's drawing style is sloppy - spidery, with the incorporation of ink stains, thumbprints and the like. Many of his works were published in the magazine Galago and in book form in Tago Förlag.

Lundkvist is known to a wider audience with his series Assar, which is daily since 1990, published in Dagens Nyheter, Sweden's largest daily newspaper.

Assar
