Ulmbach (Lahn)

The Ulmbach is an approximately 23 km long right-hand or north-western tributary of the Lahn, which runs entirely on the territory of Hesse Lahn- Dill district.

Geography

Course

Ulmbachtalsperre

On the basis of the annual flood the Ulmbachtalsperre between Greifensteiner districts Beilstein and Holzhausen was built in the 1960s. The resulting reservoir is used except as flood protection or as a recreational area.

Data and character

The Ulmbach is a coarse material rich, siliceous low mountain. Its catchment area is 60.9 km ² and its mean discharge ( MQ ) is 741 liters per second. Its ecological status is classified as moderate, whereas his water structure data will be evaluated negatively.

Fauna

The dominant fish region of Ulmbaches is the top trout region and according to the testimony of the local fishing club, he has a good population of crayfish and trout .. Listed are also the brook lamprey, minnow, the bullhead, the loach, and the signal crayfish.
