Ulric II, Margrave of Carniola

Count Ulrich II ( Udalrich II ) (* 1064, † May 13, 1112 ) from the house of Weimar- Orlamünde was Count of Weimar ( 1070-1112 ). Some sources refer to him as Margrave of Carniola, Istria.

Life

Ulrich was the son of Ulrich I and Sophia of Hungary. He married before 1102 Adelheid von Thüringen ( † 1146 ), daughter of Count Ludwig the Springer, but cast them because of infidelity.

After the assassination Ekbert II ( 1090 ) was able to take control in Weimar and probably in Orlamünde Ulrich apparently.

1102 Ulrich gave his entire allodial in Istria partly to some of his vassals, partly to the Church of Aquileia.

Ulrich had no male offspring. With his death in 1112 the elder branch of Weimar became extinct in the male line. King Henry V then tried, but ultimately in vain to collect all the allods.
