Ulrich Duchrow

Ulrich Duchrow ( born June 13, 1935) is a Protestant theologian and social ethicist.

Life

Ulrich Duchrow studied Protestant theology and philosophy in Tübingen, Heidelberg, Zurich and Basel. From 1960 to 1963 he worked on his dissertation on language comprehension and Biblical hearing in Augustine. In 1963 he married Ulrike Scharmer. In 1968 he qualified as a professor in systematic theology and social ethics.

Since 1984, the liberation theologian acts as an adjunct professor of systematic theology at the University of Heidelberg. He is co-founder of Kairos Europa, a network within the Conciliar Process, inter alia, to committed to equitable economic relations with the countries of the South.

Commitment

Duchrow one of Germany 's most renowned critics of global capitalism. In the essay An exchange of letters between rich and poor and its aftermath from 2005 Duchrow underwent neoliberalism critical analysis. He reminded the audience that Christians should remember their most important task, and the roots of Christian and biblical claims. The focus of his work is the question of how the church can respond to economic globalization by neoliberal model. In this sense Duchrow was on Reformation Day 2008 alongside Frank Crüsemann, Heino Falcke, Christian Felber, Kuno Füssel, Detlef Hensche, Ton Veerkamp, Karl Georg pewter etc. First signatories of the call peace with the capital?
