Ulrich Fugger the Elder

Ulrich Fugger of the lily (* October 9, 1441 in Augsburg, † April 19, 1510 in Augsburg) was the brother and business partner of Jakob Fugger, called Jacob Fugger the Rich and Georg Fugger.

Ulrich was the eldest son of Jacob Fugger the Elder, his mother's name was Barbara. His brothers were, besides Jacob the rich and Georg Andreas (not to be confused with Andreas Fugger of venison ) Johann (gen. Hans, not to be confused with Hans Ulrich Fugger grandnephew ) and Peter. However, these three brothers died early: Andreas and Johann on business trips to Venice and Peter in Nuremberg.

Formally launched Ulrich the company since his father's death in 1469 until his own death. In fact, initially led his mother on the family, transferred the sons but with their consent bigger sums that were increasing them further. Also negotiation activities and trips were incumbent 's sons. Only with the death of Barbara in 1497 were the sons full access to the entire property. Ulrich, however, did not reach the economic skills of his youngest brother, in whose shadow he stood.

In 1479 he married Veronica Lauginger. With her he had the following children: Anna (b. 1484 ), Ursula (b. 1485 ), Ulrich II (b. 1490 ), Sybille (b. 1493 ) and Jerome (b. 1499 ).

1510 Ulrich Fugger died from the effects of bladder stone surgery.
