UludaÄŸ

The Uludağ [ uludɑ ː ] is a 2542 m high mountain in the west of Turkey. Its name translates Mighty Mountain (from Turkish ulu for powerful, sublime and dağ for mountain). The mountain, which lies about 31 km south of the city of Bursa, is used among other things for winter sports.

The Uludağ is an extinct volcano; in the area, there are still hot springs.

Also known as Olympus or Olympos Misios he is sometimes equated with the mountain of which followed the Trojan War, in Greek legend, the gods.

From the surrounding area of Uludağ comes the well-known in German-speaking lemonade Uludağ Gazoz, which used to be made exclusively from the source water of the mountain.

Also the Uludağ University in Bursa owes the mountain its name.
