United Civic Party of Belarus

The United Civil Party of Belarus ( Belarusian Аб'яднаная грамадзянская партыя Беларусі, АГП; Russian Объединенная гражданская партия, ОГП ) is a conservative party in Belarus. It is one of those opposition parties who criticize the official leadership of Alexander Lukashenko and are not represented in parliament. The United Civil Party is headed by Anatoly Lebedko.

As the liberal conservative Partyja BNF ( " Belarussian National Front " ) also has the United Civil Party observer status in the European People's Party (EPP) and is an associate member of the International Democratic Union.

The parliamentary elections in Belarus in 2012 were boycotted by the United Civil Party, together with the Partyja BNF.

Positions

The party describes himself as a liberal- conservative. It is committed to human rights and the market economy. The government should therefore protect its citizens but not control. Nationalization of companies shall also be rejected. In the party program indicated that the United Civil Party of liberty, property, social partnership and believe in the family. Large families should be socially supported and the free economy is to protect against monopolies, oligarchs and the abuse of power. The party wants to redevelop the areas which are most affected by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and calls for the resettlement of people from these areas. In foreign policy, it seeks to join the European Union, the formation of a free trade zone with Poland, but also the maintenance of relations with Russia.
