Resolution 6 of the UN Security Council is a resolution that in its 42nd meeting was decided by the United Nations Security Council on May 17, 1946 unanimously. They dealt with the admission process for new members of the United Nations ( UN). Specifically called the Security Council several appointments and set up a committee to review the candidates for inclusion.

Content

The Security Council adopted the content of Article 4 of the United Nations Charter for knowledge in which the inclusion criteria and the admission procedure for new member states of the UN is regulated.

He also noted that the General Assembly, the new members takes on the recommendation of the Security Council planned to meet on September 3, 1946.

The Security Council decided to treat applications for admission received by the Secretary General of the UN in specially scheduled sessions in August 1946.

All applications received by the Secretary before July 15 should be of a committee that in each case a representative should consist of each Security Council member, checked. Its report should be submitted to the Security Council not later than 1 August.

Subsequent change

On 24 July 1946, the Security Council decided at its 51st session that are subsequently altered in Resolution 6 due to the adjournment of the meeting of the General Assembly, all the dates. You should be shifted by exactly the amount of time that met the General Assembly later.

The Security Council consulted as provided in August 1946 on the taking up of various candidates. In Resolution 8 of 29 August, he recommended the inclusion of Afghanistan, Iceland and Sweden.
