United States House of Representatives elections, 2000

The elections to the House of Representatives of the United States took place on November 7, 2000 simultaneously with the presidential election of George W. Bush. As a result, there was little change in the distribution of seats in the House of Representatives. The Republicans lost two seats, but were able to maintain their seat majority. Two independent candidates who belonged to neither the Democratic Party nor the Republican Party were elected: Bernard ( " Bernie " ) Sanders in Vermont (re-elected, since 1990 Representative for Vermont) and Virgil Goode in Virginia (re-elected, previously Democratic Party, since January 2000 "independent", since August 2002 Republican Party ).
