The United States Postmaster General is facing the U.S. federal post.
From 1792 this office ministerial rank, the Postmaster General had was therefore a member of the federal government. With the Postal Reorganization Act 1971, its federal agency, the United States Post Office Department was abolished and transferred to the independent federal agency United States Postal Service.
