United States presidential election, 1892

The presidential election in the United States from 1892 took place on 8 November 1892. The New York Grover Cleveland tried after his defeat by Benjamin Harrison four years earlier, to once again be president. Harrison ran again; his running mate as a candidate for the vice-presidency Whitelaw Reid was in imitation of Levi P. Morton.

Cleveland, which had 1888 more votes (but not more electors ) was obtained as Harrison, now won both the popular vote and the - decisive - the electoral vote. He was the first Democrat who was nominated by his party in three successive elections. It was not until Franklin D. Roosevelt surpassed him, as he was nominated four-time 1932-1944.

By James B. Weaver went to a third candidate for the Populist Party. He won the majority in four states and received 22 electoral votes in the Electoral College.
