The University of Adelaide / University of Adelaide (short: Adelaide ) is a university in the Australian city of Adelaide ( South Australia ).

History and Organization

The University of Adelaide was founded on November 6, 1874, making it the oldest university in South Australia, the third oldest university in Australia and older than most universities in England. The university is spread over four sites; the main campus is located in the center of Adelaide on the road North Terrace, with additional locations in Waite Campus, Roseworthy Campus and Thebarton campus in the suburb of Thebarton.

It belongs to the Group of Eight and has five Nobel Prize winners. In the year 2004 18.960 students were enrolled in the University, of which more than 3,000 international students from more than 70 different countries.
