The University of Alabama in Huntsville ( UAH also called ) is a state university in Huntsville, Alabama. It was founded in 1950 and is part of the University of Alabama system. Currently here are enrolled 7,600 students. The school is particularly known for its research and teaching in the fields of astrophysics and atmosphere. The UAH is a so-called Space Grant University. Since April 2008, the Briton David Williams is the President of the UAH.

The sports teams are the Chargers of UAH. The university is a member of the Gulf South Conference ( East Division ). The hockey team plays in the College Hockey America.

Rampage in February 2010

On February 12, 2010 at 16:00 CST clock lecturer Dr. Amy Bishop allegedly opened during a meeting of the Department of Biology at the Shelby Center for Science and Technology opened fire on her colleagues. The faculty members Gopi K. Podila, Maria Ragland Davis and Adriel Johnson were killed, injured three other people.
