University of Arts in Belgrade

The University of Arts Belgrade (Serbian: Универзитет уметности у Београду / Univerzitet umetnosti u Beogradu ) is a university for music, art and theater in Belgrade, Serbia. It was founded in 1957 and today is divided into four faculties.

History

The history of the University of Arts Belgrade begins in 1937, are considered in Belgrade founded the first art school and music school. 1947, the Academy of Dramatic and 1948, the Academy of Applied Arts is formed. In 1953, close the academies together to Art Academy Belgrade. In 1973, the art academies be extended to schools, from the Academy of Fine Arts created the University of the Arts, the second independent Belgrade University.

Currently, about 1,700 students study at the four faculties of the University of Arts in Belgrade.
