University of Campinas

The State University of Campinas ( Portuguese: Universidade Estadual de Campinas, UNICAMP abbreviated ), is one of the state universities of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. The main campus is located in Barao Geraldo, a district of Campinas, 10 km from the city center. In addition, the Unicamp has other facilities in the cities of Limeira, Piracicaba, Sumaré and Paulínia.

The Unicamp was founded on October 5, 1966 and in 2007, approximately 39,300 students and 2,125 professors.

She is one of the best and most productive research and educational institutions in Latin America. So the university is characterized solely responsible for 15 % of the Brazilian research performance.

In addition, the Unicamp has two vocational technical high schools: COTUCA in Campinas and Cotil in Limeira.

The University Hospital of Unicamp, the Hospital of the Clínicas, the largest public hospital in the region. The Unicamp is also home to more than 20 interdisciplinary centers, laboratories and research groups.
