University of Central Lancashire

The University of Central Lancashire (or short: UCLan; German: University of Zentrallancashire ) is a university with its headquarters in Preston, Lancashire, England, United Kingdom. She has offices in Carlisle and Penrith.

In Preston, the University has approximately 35,000 students. This makes it the sixth largest universities in the United Kingdom.

Founded as the University on October 7, 1828th

On August 1, 2004 the former Northumbria University in Carlisle was incorporated with approximately 400 students.

The students maintain their own radio station called " Frequency 1350 ".

Origins

On September 11, 1828 Prestoner Joseph Livesey has a meeting held " for the purpose of establishing an institution in Preston ". The meeting was held at 19:30 " great Mr. Smith's room No. 11, Cannon Street, ( through Mr. Templeton 's school) " in. This meeting led to another meeting on urban grain market (now the "Assembly" bar ) in the Lune Street on October 7 in the same year.
