University of Central Missouri

The University of Central Missouri is a state university in Warrensburg in the U.S. state of Missouri. It has over 12,000 students. In addition to the main campus in Warrensburg there is a location in Lee 's Summit.

History

The university was founded in 1871 as the State Normal School, District # 2 and became known as Warrensburg Teachers College. From 1971, it was called Central Missouri State University ( CMSU ). In 2006 she was renamed University of Central Missouri.

Sports

The sports teams of the university are known as the Central Missouri Mules and Jennies and take part in the MIAA.

GIMPS

As part of the GIMPS project, three Mersenne primes have been discovered at UCM in the years 2005, 2006 and 2013. The number 2013 has discovered more than 17 million jobs and is currently the largest known prime number.
