The University of Edinburgh Business School ( OAs ) - formerly University of Edinburgh Management School - is the business school of the University of Edinburgh and offers since 1918 economics courses.

The business school is accredited in both AMBA and EQUIS and in one of the most prestigious British and European management schools. In international comparison the UEMS 2007 was ranked by the Financial Times ranked 8th in the UK, 16 in Europe and 54 worldwide. 2005 The Economist placed the UEMS number 7 in the UK and 14 in Europe.

History

The University of Edinburgh 1916 was invited by the Chamber of Commerce Edinburgh to establish a course of study for its members. It was then in 1918 the Bachelor of Commerce ( BCom ) launched and the Chair of Accounting and Business Method, which was the first of its kind in Scotland, was founded. First part of the Faculty of Arts soon became the Department of Business Studies and the Department of Accounting and Business Method founded.

Only in the 21st century of BCom has been replaced by the Master of Arts ( MA) in Business Studies. The Master of Business Administration (MBA) was first offered in 1980. Since then, over 3,500 students have graduated from this program. The first MSc program was introduced in 1996.

Since August 2010, the Business School is housed in a newly built building in the center of the university campus and in the heart of Edinburgh city center. The new building provided an investment of £ 17 million for the University dar. It includes all staff offices, eight lecture halls, several work rooms, executive education suite and a cafe. In addition, be shared by the Business School and the historic and modern buildings of the University of Edinburgh.

Academic Units

The students are advised and trained by the Edinburgh Careers Service team at career, personal development and soft skills. The students also benefit from the international alumni network and up to 50 guest speakers, who report annually to the OAs. The OAs alumni network comprises 10,000 members in over 120 countries.

MBA

The MBA is currently a full-time MBA (12 months) and Part-time Executive MBA (27 months) offered. The full-time MBA is also offered as a modular MBA, the flexible ( up to 48 months ) can be traversed. In addition to the usual case studies and group projects while studying, the full-time MBA still includes a 3-month consulting project ( Lothians Consulting Project) in collaboration with different companies. In International Business MBA students spend three months in one of the partner universities worldwide, and then run through another MBA internship in a company.
