University of Juba

The University of Juba, English University of Juba Arabic جامعة جوبا; is a university in southern Sudan, with 16,000 enrolled students (as of 2010).

The University of Juba was founded in 1977 after the end of the first civil war in Southern Sudan in Juba in southern Sudan to train professionals for the development of South Sudan and to remove the backwardness of the region.

1989 was moved for safety reasons, the University of Khartoum, because since 1982 the civil war in southern Sudan had broken out again.

In 2002, the facilities were summarized on the al - Kaduro campus in Khartoum North.

On February 11, 2006, 200 students who requested a transfer back to the University of Juba, arrested after clashes with police. On 8 April 2006, students refused to drop the exam and once again called for the return transfer. The Sudan People's Liberation Movement ( SPLM short ), which provides the autonomous regional government of Southern Sudan, then also called for the shift back to the south. To achieve this goal, the SPLM government has commissioned the repair of university buildings in Juba. The work should be completed in the course of 2007.
