University of Lorraine
The Université de Lorraine is a public university in the French region of Lorraine, which emerged from the merger of the University of Nancy and the University of Metz.
History
The founding of the Université de Lorraine goes back to the merger of the three universities Henri Poincaré / Nancy -I ( UHP), Nancy -II ( UN2 ) and the Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine ( INPL ) to the University of Nancy in March 2007.
Through the merger with the University Paul Verlaine - Metz ( UPVM ) in October 2009, the Center for Research and Higher Education of the Université de Lorraine (French: Pôle de recherche et d' enseignement supérieur ( PRES ) de l' Université de Lorraine ) was founded.
After September 2010, the conditions for the merger of the two universities have been established, it will be granted on 25 January 2011 by all Board members. With the adoption of the 22 September 2011, the Université de Lorraine is officially founded and has the status of a grand établissement. The merger finally took place on 1 January 2012.
Organization
Despite the merger of 2 (or 4) universities, the structure remains in faculties ( Unités de formation et de recherche - UFR ) - remain largely and Institutes of Technology ( IUT Institut de technologie universitaires ).
The faculties were grouped into eight so-called Collegium.
