University of Miskolc

The University of Miskolc (Hungarian: Miskolci Egyetem ) in Miskolc is a specialized on the mining industry, but in the meantime developed by other departments Technical University, with around 15,000 students, the largest university in Northern Hungary.

It was founded in 1949 by a decision of the Hungarian Parliament, but can look back on a more than 270 -year history, inasmuch as its predecessor institution, the Mining Academy in Selmecbánya, was founded in 1735 under the reign of Maria Theresa. Rector of the University of Miskolc is Prof. Dr. Gyula Patkó.
