University of Miyazaki

The University of Miyazaki (宫 崎 大学Japanese, Miyazaki daigaku, English University of Miyazaki, for short. Miyadai (宫 大) or UOM ) is a national university in Japan. The main campus is located in Miyazaki in Miyazaki Prefecture.

History

The (older) University of Miyazaki (English Miyazaki University) was founded in 1949 by the merger of the four schools. The four were:

  • The agricultural and forestry business school Miyazaki (宫 崎 农林 専 门 学校, Miyazaki Norin Gakko Semmon, founded in 1924 ),
  • The normal school Miyazaki (宫 崎 师范学校, Miyazaki shihan Gakko, founded in 1884 ),
  • Youth Normal School Miyazaki (宫 崎 青年 师范学校, Miyazaki his shihan Gakko, founded in 1922 ), and
  • The prefectural technical Miyazaki (宫 崎 県 工业 専 门 学校, Miyazaki -ken Kōgyō Semmon Gakko founded 1944).

The university was opened with three faculties in some locations: agricultural science, liberal arts and engineering. The Faculty of Liberal Arts was renamed the Faculty of Education in 1966, and 1999, then changed to the Faculty of Education and Cultural Studies. 1984, the current Kibana Campus was opened, and over the years attracted the faculties to enter the campus. The former campus of the Faculty of Agriculture is now the prefectural Cultural Park with museum and library (宫 崎 県 総 合 文化 公园, 31 ° 56 '2 " N, 131 ° 25' 8" O31.933880555556131.41877777778 ), and the former campus of the Faculty of Education ( to 1988 ) is the Municipal University of Miyazaki (宫 崎 公立 大学, Miyazaki kōritsu daigaku, founded in 1993 ).

2003, the (older) University of Miyazaki (宫 崎, founded in 1974医科大学, Miyazaki ika daigaku ) merged to form the new University of Miyazaki University of Medicine and Miyazaki.
