The University of Rennes 1 (French: Université de Rennes 1) is a university in the French city of Rennes in the Ille -et -Vilaine founded, state 1969. She is one of two universities of Rennes, with approximately 23,000 students and 1,600 academic staff. President of the University is Professor Guy Cathelineau.

History

The history of the University of Rennes 1 goes back to the year 1461, when Francis II, Duke of Brittany, founded a university in Nantes. Later this college moved into parts to Rennes. During high school reform in 1968, this university was divided into the universities of Rennes 1 and Rennes 2.

Facilities

The University of Rennes is aligned science and consists of teaching and research units ( double Unités de Recherche et de Formation - short UFR ) with nine faculties, seven institutes and an engineering school ( Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Sciences Appliquées et de Technologie ).
