The University of Rennes 2 (French: Université de Haute Bretagne Rennes 2) is one of two public universities in the French city of Rennes in the Ille -et -Vilaine. At her about 17 000 students and about 1100 academic staff are engaged in the research study. President of the University is Professor Marc Gontard.

History

The history of the University of Rennes 2 goes back to the year 1461, when Francis II, Duke of Brittany, founded a university in Nantes. Later this college moved into parts to Rennes. During high school reform in 1968, this university was divided into the universities of Rennes 1 and Rennes 2.

Facilities

The University of Rennes is oriented humanities and divided into teaching and research units ( double Unités de Recherche et de Formation - short UFR ) with five faculties.
