The University of Rijeka (Croatian: Sveučilište u Rijeci ) is a Croatian university with locations in Rijeka, Pula, Opatija, Gospic and 16,450 students and nearly 1,000 academic staff ( 2003).
The University of Rijeka, founded in 1973, with individual faculties to go back to a 1627 founded Jesuit College, in particular schools of philosophy, theology, and a Habsburg Academy of Arts. Other Universities in Rijeka are the Naval College and the University of Rijeka in Rijeka. Current President of the University is Prof. Daniel Rukavina (Member of the Croatian Academy of Sciences).
From 1983 to the early 1990s, the university was called " University " Vladimir Bakaric " Rijeka ".
