University of San Diego

The University of San Diego (also known as USD) is a private, Catholic university in San Diego in the U.S. state of California. Currently, 7,483 students are enrolled.

History

The origin of the University of San Diego goes back to two universities. Firstly, on the Founded in 1949, San Diego College for Women, which in 1952 took up his teaching. Secondly, which was founded in 1954 University of San Diego, a college for men. 1972 merged the two universities and now form the present University of San Diego.

Sports

The sports teams are called the USD Toreros. The university is a member of the West Coast Conference.
