The University of Scranton is a private university in the Roman Catholic, Jesuit sponsorship based in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

The college was founded in 1888 by the first Bishop of Scranton, William O'Hara, as St. Thomas College. 1938, the college of university status. It was conducted from 1888 to 1942 by the Diocese, and later by the Christian Brothers. Bishop William Joseph Hafey in 1942 transferred the line to the Jesuit order.

She is one of 28 members of the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities.
