The University of Swaziland, short UNISWA, is the only university of the Kingdom of Swaziland.

History

The University of Swaziland was founded in 1982. 1964 in Roma, the University of Basutoland, Bechuanaland Protectorate and Swaziland had emerged, which was renamed in 1966 in University of Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland ( UBLS ). In 1975, the network was solved. The National University of Lesotho became independent, Swaziland and Botswana were the University of Botswana and Swaziland. 1982, this composite was dissolved so that the UNISWA and the University of Botswana newly created.

In 1966, the Swaziland Agricultural College and University Centre was established in Luyengo. Today it is part of UNISWA. 1996 with Mbabane another place seat of a faculty.

Structure of the University

The University of Swaziland is concentrated in the place Kwaluseni, which lies between the capital Mbabane and the industrial center of Manzini. In Luyengo is the Faculty of Agriculture, Mbabane, the Faculty of Health Sciences. The distance between the sites is limited to 40 kilometers. The university offers bachelor's degrees in particular. Only in agricultural science, chemistry, educational science and history there is also Master programs.

Chancellor is always the King of Swaziland, Mswati III currently. From 298 academic staff are 202 Swazi.

The motto is SiSwati and is Umculu Sisekelo Sesive ( German: " The writing is the pillar of the nation" ).
