University of Upper Alsace

The University of Upper Alsace (French Université de Haute -Alsace ) with two locations in Mulhouse and Colmar is a French university. It represents the largest academic Einrichtigung in the department of Haut-Rhin dar.

History

The University of Upper Alsace was founded only in 1975, but goes back to older Mülhausener universities, including the 1822 École Nationale Supérieure de created today Chimie de Mulhouse ( ENSCMU ), which is the oldest chemistry College of France.

Like the ENSCMU was 19 years later, founded the Ecole de Filature et de Mécanique Tissage, today ENSITM of Mülhausener industrialists. 1958 and 1963 were in Mulhouse two branches of the University of Strasbourg and settled in 1969 opens a Institut Universitaire de Technologie ( IUT ) in Mulhouse and Colmar its doors. All of these higher education institutions are finally summarized in 1975 in the newly founded University of the Upper Rhine ( Université du Haut- Rhin), which two years later renamed in University of Upper Alsace.

In 1986, a Faculty of Economics, Social Sciences and Law added and in 1990 the École Supérieure des Sciences pour l' Ingénieur Appliquées de Mulhouse ( ESSAIM ).

Today the University has about 8,000 students, of which 6500 Mülhausener on campus and 1500 in Colmar. It consists of 11 member institutions, including four faculties, three schools of engineering and 2 IUTs.

There are 2 Tri-national study programs in cooperation with the Baden -Württemberg Lörrach and the University of Applied Sciences Northwestern Switzerland. It is Mechatronics Trinational and International Business Management Trinational. The events take place at the sites of the composite in German, English and French.
