Unterwaldhausen is a municipality in the district of Ravensburg in Baden- Württemberg.

Geography

Community structure

The municipality consists of the villages Unterwaldhausen and upper Waldhausen and the hamlet turn Reute, hospital courtyards and Schnaidhöfe.

History

1246 Unterwaldhausen was first mentioned in documents as Walt Husen. In Unterwaldhausen and upper Waldhausen (superior Walt Husen ), the Benedictine Abbey of Weingarten had possession.

The parish church of All Saints in Unterwaldhausen was first mentioned in 1275 in a control register. 1353 was the parish under the patronage of Ravensburger patrician family Maienberg. In 1508 it was incorporated to the monastery vineyard.

The jurisdiction over Unterwaldhausen and upper Waldhausen was exercised by the Counts of Koenigsegg. 1693 came from this jurisdiction in exchange for the hamlet Wolfertsreute to the monastery vineyard. The possessions of the monastery were summarized in the "Official Unterwaldhausen ".

In the course of the secularization of the place came in 1806 with the Kingdom of Württemberg. Unterwaldhausen first belonged to the upper office Saulgau ( from 1934: County Saulgau ) before it was added to the district of Ravensburg in the course of municipal reform on 1 January 1973.

Mayor

16 November 2008 Josef Schill was re-elected as honorary mayor. He was reelected unopposed and no votes against 100% of the valid votes cast for a third term. The turnout was 72.5 percent.

  • The Musikverein Unterwaldhausen was founded in 1921 and performs at festivals and concerts in Unterwaldhausen and environment. In addition, the 52 active members go (as of 2004) of the brass band of the association regularly on concert tours have taken her to France, Canada, the USA and Brazil.

Attractions
