Upper Klamath Lake

The Upper Klamath Lake ( also Klamath Lake ) is a large freshwater lake east of the Cascade Range in southern Oregon, north west of the town Klamath Falls, at the foot of Aspen Butte. He is the last remnant of the Pleistocene Lake Lake Modoc and is now the largest freshwater depot of the Pacific Northwest dar. It lies on the edge of the semi-desert highlands Great Basin at an altitude of 1262 meters and is about 32 km long and 12.9 km wide.

Its main tributary is the Williamson River. The water flows in the Klamath River, respectively, depending on the definition of the Link River from the south. To the north there is a small channel in the direction of Agency Lake. On the north side lies the Upper Klamath National Wildlife Refuge.

Since 1917, the Bureau of Reclamation is responsible for the lake. The Authority, as part of the Klamath Reclamation Project for irrigation in the south.
