Upper Weser Valley

The upper Weser valley formed by the course of the Upper Weser Weser in the mountains about 200 km between Hann. Munden and Minden. It is located in the German states of Lower Saxony, Hesse and North Rhine -Westphalia.

Course

The upper Weser valley starts at Hann. Munden, where the Werra and Fulda flow together to form the Weser and extends to the upper Weser in a northerly direction through the Weser mountain country to the ground Werder, then in a north-westerly direction, south of the Süntel and the Weser Mountains, and finally ends at the Porta Westfalica where the Weser between Wiehengebirge and Weser Mountains and into the North German plain occurs. In the south the upper Weser valley touches the Solling -Vogler and in the north it crosses the Nature Park Weser mountain country Schaumburg -Hameln.

North to the upper Weser valley, the middle Weser valley connects with the Middle Weser region.

Cities

Cities in the upper Weser valley are Hann. Munden, Bad Karlshafen, Beverungen, Hoexter, wood Minden, soil Werder, Hameln, Rinteln, Vlotho, Bad Oeynhausen and Porta Westfalica.

Culture and infrastructure

Several tourist roads accompany the Weser valley: the German Fairytale Route, the Weser valley road, the German Framework Road and the road of the Weser Renaissance. The valley is crossed by several railway lines, including in Hann. Munden, Wehrden (Weser), Hoexter and wood Minden. Run from Hameln railway lines parallel to the Weser about Bad Oeynhausen (Weser ) train Minden ( railway Hamm- Minden ).

A long section of the 500 km long distance cycle route runs mostly along the river Weser Weser through the upper Weser Valley.
