Ural Airlines

Ural Airlines (Russian: Уральские Авиалинии ) is a Russian airline based in Yekaterinburg and based on the Ekaterinburg airport.

History

Ural Airlines is the successor of the Sverdlovsk division of Aeroflot, who were based in Yekaterinburg. The Company was incorporated on 28 December 1993 as an independent company for freight, charter and scheduled flights. The assets of the airline at the time belonged to the Koltsovo airport in the city of Yekaterinburg. In addition, Ural Airlines, two Antonov An-32 were allocated and three An-24.

Despite the increase in the fleet with two Ilyushin Il -86, Tupolev Tu- 154B 19 and six Antonov An-12 originated millions of losses as passenger numbers steadily declined. Only the cargo sector with flights to Sharjah and reported to the United Arab Emirates growth. In 1997, the company was structured accordingly and private investors, including Lufthansa, a rose. Although all the interests of investors, such as domestic transport, regional transport, international connections, and freight scheduled services were operated, the figures did not improve.

In 2000, the airline should be auctioned due to the debt. However, lack of interest, the auction failed several times. Thereafter, the management tried a basic renovation. The oldest aircraft were decommissioned, seven machines modernized technical. The airline opened numerous city offices and retail outlets at your destinations. Payments with debit or credit cards have been possible. Since then, the airline was able to stabilize and modernize its fleet with the Airbus A320 family and significantly expand. In the meantime, also a modern corporate design as well as a frequent flyer program was launched.

Destinations

From their base in Yekaterinburg Ural Airlines flies mainly to destinations within Russia.

Since April 2, 2012 is several times a week connected with Moscow as the first German -language line aim of the airport Cologne / Bonn. In the winter season also include charter flights to Munich and Salzburg are performed.
