Urandiborid is a chemical compound consisting of boron and uranium
Production and representation
Urandiborid can be obtained by reaction of uranium ( III) hydride with boron at 1300 to 1400 ° C.
Properties
Urandiborid is a very stable, fire-proof and water-insoluble compound. It reacts with oxygen more rapidly than pure uranium but slowly with water and nitrogen.
Use
Are investigated ways to bind uranium-bearing radioactive waste as Urandiborid, and thus allow a long-term safe storage. Furthermore Urandiborid is used in radiation therapy where it is implanted directly in the form of microspheres in the treatment sites in the body, and remains there for a longer period.
