Urban and Suburban Transit Association

Városi és Elővárosi Közlekedési Egyesülete ( to German Urban and suburban transport association, short VEKE ) is a Hungarian association for urban and suburban traffic.

Organization

The headquarters of the association is located in Budapest. The goal of the association is to improve the transport system in the Hungarian cities. Therefore, the association formed local area groups that deal with current problems of transport. For example, there is also a local group in Érd that deals with the improvement of urban traffic and suburban in Érd.

Of course the club can work together with other organizations and authorities, but only if they have no political orientation.

Working groups

The association's members are active in two working groups:

  • Working Group of the transport development

The working process of transport development plans takes time and cooperation to create a better traffic situation. So the members make various concepts, plans, studies and lobbying activities. The club organizes events, press releases produced brochures and informational materials.

  • Working group of the operating history

This working group deals with the history of Nahverhehr in Hungary. It organizes commemoration days, makes educative actions. One of its objectives is to introduce a solid and irregular nostalgia operation, so they organized in 2004 and 2005, various nostalgia trips a year.

The club also has a website. There, the association is to promote the development and development of transport in Hungary and Europe.

Results so far in and around Budapest

  • From 1 November 2003, the tram line 41 was extended. So she goes instead to Móricz Zsigmond körtér to Batthányi tér, which is also the terminal tram line 19.
  • From 1 July 2005, the timetable of the bus routes between Érd and Budapest was changed. Since then, more buses are available at night.
  • As of July 4, 2005, the bus route 112 was extended until Kalvin square, so that the line has improved connections.
  • On 1 September 2005, the night traffic in Budapest was completely changed. Thus, there are 29 night routes in Budapest, the drive through the city.
  • From 29 October 2005, the tram line runs 52 with ex - Hanover articulated railcar ( TW6000 ). So far, here drove UV coatings.
  • On 3 December 2005, the reform of the bus family 7 terminals and schedule of basic and quick lines were rationalized took place.
  • In February 2006: Before the parameters book of BKV Zrt. ( Budapest Transport Company ) had been approved, the proposals were accepted by the VEKE BKV. So the club schedule changes and line reductions has averted.

The association has also presented numerous preparatory studies. One of the most important studies is the proposal of Metro Line -2 to connect to the S -Bahn between Gödöllő and Budapest. Due to lack of money and political reasons, the proposal was rejected.

Other important proposals

  • The cog railway to be extended in both directions until the Moscow square and up Normafa.
  • The tram line 67 and 44 will be available again after a track renewal.
  • The tram lines 14, 47 and 49 to drive to the Nyugati tér ( Western Railway Station). Then she would again form a direct tram connection between North and south of Pest.
  • The association also deals with plans of expansion of the S- Bahn service in the region.
