Urban Cowboy is a film drama by director James Bridges from 1980 with John Travolta in the lead role.
Action
The young laborer Bud Davis moves from the small rural town track in Texas to Pasadena, Texas. He lives temporarily with his uncle Bob and his Aunt Corene and finds work at a refinery in the eastern oil city of Houston. His nights he spends in the huge saloon " Gilley 's Club ," where he shows his skills on the mechanical bull.
He meets the young wife Sissy, she marries, she loses and finally wins it back.
Background
The real " Gilley's Club" with space for 5500 visitors in Pasadena was the setting for the majority of the film. The club owners Mickey Gilley plays as well as Charlie Daniels as leader of the house band itself
