Urbane Künste Ruhr

Urban Arts Ruhr is a cultural institution under the umbrella of Kultur Ruhr GmbH, which is realized in the wake of the European Capital of Culture RUHR.2010 artistic productions in the urban area of the Ruhr. The artistic director of Urban Arts Ruhr has taken the architect, art historian and curator Katja Assmann. In the period from 2012 to 2014, through projects in urban areas, temporary architecture, urban interventions and artistic research projects will be new ways of dealing with developed urban centers.

Projects

In addition to regular contributions to RuhrTriennale Urban Arts developed Ruhr certain major projects on which Europe RUHR.2010 have emerged with an explicit focus on the urban areas of the Ruhr area as part of the Capital of Culture.

Network approach

Explicit Task and goal of Urban Arts Ruhr is to strengthen the existing art networks of the Ruhr, to support organizational and stimulate the creation of new alliances.

Urban Arts Ruhr is responsible for about control of the network of the Ruhr Art Museums (AFM ), which - also founded for RUHR.2010 - composed of twenty art museums in the Ruhr. The RKM cooperate with them at all levels of museum work ( exhibition design, museum education, publications, public relations).

One of the already existing networks, which is organizationally supported by Urban Arts Ruhr, Ruhr clubs, the arts, an association of more than 20 arts organizations and arts centers in the Ruhr. Art Ruhr clubs should help the individual art clubs to a European effect and stimulate content, curatorial, communication and logistical cooperation.

Another assisted by Urban Arts Ruhr network are the strong places, initiated as part of a merger of artists RUHR.2010 frets of the Ruhr. Organization

Urban Arts Ruhr is the fourth pillar of the program Kultur Ruhr GmbH - next to the Ruhr Triennale, the dance scene Ruhr (PACT Zollverein ) and the choral work dysentery. The state of NRW and Ruhr Regional Association (RVR ) are the main responsible partner of Kultur Ruhr GmbH, which also provide the core funding for Urban Arts Ruhr.
