Urho Castrén

Urho Castrén Jonas (born 30 December 1886 in Jyväskylä, † March 8, 1965 in Helsinki) was a Finnish politician and Prime Minister.

The scientists studied law was President of the Supreme Administrative Court and from December 1925 to December 1926 the Minister of Justice in the cabinet of Kyosti Kallio.

From September 21 to November 17, 1944 Castrén, who belonged to the National Coalition Party ( Kokoomus ) was Prime Minister of the transitional government. Two days before his inauguration, the armistice treaty with the Soviet Union was signed, which provided that an Allied Control Commission continued to monitor the ceasefire. Chairman of this consisting of 200 Soviet and 15 British officers Commission, which began its activities on 22 September 1944 was the Soviet Colonel-General Andrei Alexandrovich Zhdanov.
