Uroš Predić

Predić Uroš (Serbian Cyrillic - Урош Предић; born December 7, 1857 in Orlovat, † February 11, 1953 in Belgrade ) was one of the most important Yugoslav painter of realism. Predić is particularly known for his monumental historical painting Kosovka Devojka ( The girl from the Blackbird field ), as well as for his many portraits. He frequently addressed the Serbian medieval history.

If Predics plant was also destroyed by the Second World War, it is nevertheless known that he, inter alia, 13 pictures painted by antique motifs, such as " Nestor mediates between Achilles and Agamemnon ," " Numa Pompilius ", " Lycurgus the legislator ," " King Eumenes before the Roman Senate ", " Cicero and Catiline " and " Aristotle at the court of King Philip "and" Constantine gives Christians the freedom. " Predic thus creating an extremely erudite program, which reflected the then- state structure of the Austrian monarchy and its goals.
