Urs Fischer (footballer)

Raised in Zurich -Affoltern Urs Fischer ran from 1973 through the youth teams of FC Zurich and debuted in the 1983/84 season as a professional in the first team. Until 1987, and again from 1995 to 2003 Fischer played at FC Zurich and shot in 302 league games five goals. In 2000 he was appointed as captain with the team Cup Winner. Other 243 games he played from 1987 until 1995 for FC St. Gallen ( 10 hits). Under coach Uli Stielike Fischer arrived at four international appearances.

Urs Fischer ended his football career in May 2003. After his retirement he coached the U14 and two years successful Under-21 team of FC Zurich. After a stint as assistant coach of the first team in the 2007/ 08 season, he coached the turn of the U21 FC Zurich.

After the dismissal of Bernard Challandes on April 19, 2010, he first took over on an interim basis the trainer function of the FCZ and was later appointed head coach with contract until the summer of 2013. In the season 2010/11 he was Swiss vice champion with FC Zurich. On 12 March 2012, he was discharged from FC Zurich immediately. Fischer took over in the second half of the 2012/13 season FC Thun.
