ORS 1 is a military reconnaissance satellite of the United States which has been developed for the Operationally Responsive Space Program.

Built by the Goodrich Corporation as the prime contractor satellite was launched into orbit on June 30, 2011 at 03:09:00 UTC of the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia with a rocket of the type Minotaur 1. He serves to obtain intelligence information as well as surveillance and reconnaissance purposes and is intended to supplement capacity for image extraction from reconnaissance aircraft over Central Asia and in particular on Afghanistan. The program is coordinated by the Air Force Squadron for the development and testing of space applications ( Space Development and Test Wing, SDTW ). As a basis for the development of the satellites of the ORS / JWS satellite bus is used (also called RSMB ) Alliant Techsystems of which was used in similar form for the satellite TacSat 3, but with ORS 1 additionally has its own drive system. TacSat 3 served as a prototype for ORS 1 at least one year is provided as service life, with the fuel on board from the number to be executed maneuvers and necessary position corrections for two to four years depending on operating ranges. Main payload is an electro-optical infrared camera system called the Senior Year Electro- optical Reconnaissance System 2 ( Syers -2 ) of the Goodrich Corporation which is also in the Lockheed U-2 is used in a similar form.
