USS Missouri

Four ships of the United States Navy have been named USS Missouri in honor of the state of Missouri:

  • The first USS Missouri was a frigate built in 1841, which burned in August 1843.
  • The second USS Missouri was a battleship of the Maine - class, which was launched in 1901 and was placed out of service in 1919.
  • The third USS Missouri was a battleship of the Iowa class. In 1944, launched in ship served in the Navy until 1992 and is a museum ship at Pearl Harbor.
  • The fourth USS Missouri is a submarine of the Virginia class, which was launched in 2009 and entered service in 2010.
