The USS Oliver Hazard Perry (FFG -7) was a frigate and the lead ship of the Oliver Hazard Perry class. The United States Navy named the ship after Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry.

History

The frigate was, nor as PFG -109 ( for Patrol Frigate Guided Missile ), given in 1973 in order, 1975, but reclassified to FFG ( Guided Missile Frigate ). The keel laying took place in 1975 instead of at Bath Iron Works, in September 1976, the frigate was launched. End of 1977, the OHP was finally put into service. The first unit of the class, Perry was selected for the Shock Trials, during which the ship close under and over water explosions was exposed to verify the integrity of the hull.

In her last years, Perry took part in the exercise BALTOPS 1994, after which they sailed the Great Lakes, in order to support the recruitment. Commodore Perry was especially famous for his fights in these waters.

The Oliver Hazard Perry was provided on 20 February 1997 out of service, then deleted from the register of ships of the Navy in 1999 and dismantled at Metro Machine.
